Monster in My Pocket Wiki

Golem is monster #54 from the Series 2 figures.

Monster information[]

In Hebrew mythology, a golem is a statue made entirely of one material brought to life, most commonly clay from a riverbank. To bring one of these creatures to life, all one has to do is write a word on the golem's forehead, or etch it on a stone tablet and place it in the monster's mouth. The word of life for a golem is "emeth," which means "truth" in Hebrew. Golems are put to work the instant they come to life. In the 16th century, a rabbi named Loew who lived in Prague was said to have created a golem to perform chores for himself and the people in his neighborhood.

A golem is said to start out the size of a lump of clay or rock, but its body grows a little every day. The creature learns about life by watching people, and eventually grows to envy humans for having emotions. By this time, a golem has usually become incredibly strong. Legend has it that the creature becomes frustrated at not being able to feel happiness like people do, and goes on a rampage, destroying everything and everyone in its path. A golem's master can prevent this by destroying the beast before it becomes too large. The only way to kill a golem is to erase the "e" in "emeth," changing the word to the Hebrew word for "death."
