Griffin is monster #5 from the Series 1 figures, and monster #19 from the 2006 Series.

Series 1

Griffin is a twenty-five point monster, and is available in the original green and purple colours, plus all four neon colours and rarer premium pine green and blue editions. It was also one of the monsters that was redesigned for the 2006 relaunch series.

Distant relative of Chimera and Harpy,the Griffin or Griffon is a gigantic flying beast part lion and part eagle. The Griffin builds his nest with the gold stolen from mountains and preserves this gold from everyone that tries to steal it. This powerful creature has a strong appetite and in a particular way prefers horses. It is told that they fly even above villages near their nests to capture unexpectedly people to bring them to their nest to feed "their babies"! Next time that a gigantic cloud appears above you, be careful that is not a Griffin out for shopping.

2006 Series

Griffin is a monster in the class "The Winged." He is monster #19. The 2006 redesign made the creature bipedal, with long furred arms, but it is otherwise similar to a traditional depiction of a griffin. It's card has a total points value of 219.

Official Card Biography

The Griffin is a huge beast, with the head and wings of an eagle and the body of a lion. He is enormously strong, with a keen sense of hearing. The Griffin uses his eagle's claws and ability to attack from the air to overpower opponents in battle.

Trivia

Griffin, along with Haniver of the 2006 series were the only 2 monsters with a prototype version released in early production. The prototypes are very difficult to get ahold of but were not that visually different. It is unknown why only these 2 figures had prototypes and why they were actually released to the market.
