Monster information[]
In Greek mythology, the Minotaur was born when the sea god Poseidon cursed Queen Pasiphae of Crete fall in love with a sacrificial bull. King Minos made the inventor Daedalus build an enormous labyrinth so that the beast would not harm anyone. However, to appease the Minotaur's appetite for human flesh, 12 people from Athens were taken to the labyrinth every nine years to be sacrificed to the beast.
This went on for quite some time until the Athenian prince Theseus decided to slay the beast and end the sacrifices once and for all. Ariadne, King Minos' daughter, fell madly in love with Theseus and gave him a magic ball of thread so he could retrace his path. When Theseus found the Minotaur, he killed with his sword, ending Crete's rule over Athens.
